The X-Bolt has been a best seller and top performer, building a stellar reputation as a straight-shooting rifle that hunters can depend on. Hell’s Canyon models featured a sleek design characterized by a barreled action protected by a durable Cerakote finish and camouflage on the composite stock. The awesome appearance of the Speed rifle was more than ably backed-up by its tack driving performance.
The new X-Bolt 2 Hell’s Canyon LR SR has barrel specifications that make this rifle an excellent choice for both hunting and long-range practice sessions. The lengths of the fluted heavy sporter contour barrels have been optimized and run 2″ longer than standard lengths (to a maximum of 26″) for added bullet velocities. The muzzle is threaded 5/8″-24 and is ready for use with an optional suppressor. The Hell’s Canyon LR includes a Recoil Hawg muzzle brake and thread protector cap. The action is bedded and the barrel is free floated for consistent accuracy.
Whether you are a hunter or an aspiring competitor, if you are looking for extra magazine capacity, the Speed LR delivers with the new Plus Magazine system. It uses our proprietary Plus Magazine — a single stack, extended design — that holds 5 or 6 rounds depending on the cartridge. The Plus Magazine system retains the shoulder holding feature of the X-Bolt rotary magazine and uses the same center feed design — two features designed prevent damage to the tips of bullets in the magazine under recoil or when loading to the chamber. The Plus Magazine system has easy insertion and ejection with a convenient side mounted release button.
The Cerakote Smoked Bronze finish is applied to the redesigned action and barrel for metal protection that exceeds traditional bluing or stainless steel.
McMillan is highly regarded in the rifle world as a supplier of premium stocks. The Hell’s Canyon McMillan SR features a Game Scout stock that is constructed from a rugged fiberglass composite material and precision machined for an exact fit. Machined-in aluminum pillars ensure the action fits perfectly. Bedding at the action screws and recoil lug free floats the barrel for consistent accuracy. Versatility is key for the Game Scout design, with the trim lines of a fine hunting stock coupled with the vertical grip and wider fore-end of a benchrest rifle. A premium Pachmayr Decelerator pad soaks up felt recoil.
