HellermannTyton Army Tourniquets – 25 pcs set
Uses:
- Amputation- Tourniquets may be applied to amputated and lost limbs when there is an elevated risk of bleeding. Amputations may be the result of motor vehicle accidents, explosions, and other sources of trauma.
- Entrapment- Apply the tourniquet to the affected limb to prevent bleeding when you are unable to reach and care for the extremity. An example of applying a tourniquet during entrapment would include using this device on an arm that is badly injured and stuck under a boulder.
- Large scale injury- In the event of a mass casualty or critical situations, tourniquets are applied to provide first response treatment to large crowds, allowing time to treat more critical needs. Securing an airway and initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) are also considered emergent priorities. Stopping or slowing bleeding allows providers to address these other concerns.
